Here are some benefits of the OSHA Partnership Program
  1. A courtesy call may be made to Partners before compliance officers show up to address a complaint call.  This courtesy call is given on a case-by-case basis which is determined by the hazard described and at the discretion of the Area Director or his representative.
  1. Fewer programmed inspections: every fifth partner on a programmed planned inspection list is inspected while the other four partners are not inspected.  This allows OSHA to concentrate on employers that have not demonstrated an effective safety program or record.
  1. Improved Safety Program.
  1. Company management and employees have pride in their work and work place.  Employees appreciate what the employer has done to ensure the work place is safe and are more motivated to work safely.
  1. Community recognition: other construction employers and the community see the “Proud Partner with OSHA” signs and see a safe company.
  1. Repeat business: partners have demonstrated a safe work place to OSHA, therefore, a general contractor or project owner would be more likely to hire a partnered company.  Partnered companies tend to have a good working relationship; therefore general contractors tend to hire the same sub-contractors over and over.
  1. Partnered companies, particularly the management and safety directors, have met with the OSHA staff on several occasions (usually positively); therefore the lines of communication are open.  A partnered company feels more comfortable asking questions and asking for assistance from OSHA.
  1. Partnered companies have demonstrated experience modification rates (EMRs) below their peer group, therefore reducing worker’s compensation costs.
