Cold Weather

INTRODUCTION

1. Review any accidents or "near accidents" from the past week.

2. Describe the hazards of the work as they relate to your project. Explain or show the SAFE way of doing the job.

3. Give the TOOL BOX SAFETY TALK

Exposure to cold can cause injury or serious illness such as frostbite or hypothermia. The likelihood of injury or illness depends on factors such as physical activity, clothing, wind, humidity, working conditions, and a person's age and state of health.

Idaho Needs more Workers in the Skilled Trades: WeBuildIdaho.org can help

On Thursday, November 12th, the Idaho AGC unveiled the Education Foundation's workforce development effort, WeBuildIdaho.org to the public.  We were delighted to get the full support of Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter at the public unveiling, in addition to the support of the Department of Labor, Department of Professional Technical Education, and Idaho's post-secondary educational institutions, to name a few.  The Idaho AGC was represented by Bob VonLintig of Western Construction and Outreach Director, Hailey Reyes.

Yesterday, November 19th, we had a great turn-out in the Idaho AGC Education Center for our Fall Lunch with the Board event.  Over a lunch catered by John Berryhill, new members, old members, and our board were treated to a presentation from Jeff Sayer, Director of Commerce, on his expectations for Idaho's future growth and development, and his reflections on the importance of teaming up to solve the growing problem of workforce shortage within the construction and trades industries, citing the Idaho AGC's WeBuildIdaho.org initiative as a strong move in the right direction.

Drinking alcohol on the job is not permitted. In many workplaces, 20 to 25% of accidents involve intoxicated people injuring themselves and innocent victims.
